STANDARD SCREENING ASSESSMENT AREA x AREA SAMPLINGAxA LABORATORY COMPOSITE
Standard Screening Assessment (SSA)
In a Field Composite multiple samples are taken at a property and then combined into a single test kit on site and sent to the laboratory for analysis. The results are reported as an accumulative total. If there are more than one kit to be used (1 kit can sample up to 5 areas), then these are composited at the lab, and the result will be an average across the number of kits used, with a potential maximum amount (ie if the result were to be isolated in 1 sample area)
Advantages:
- One sample taken in every “high use” area in accordance with NZS8510:2017
- Less kits are required, therefore the cost of analysis is more affordable
- If the meth residues found are lower than the acceptable levels, no one sample can exceed the acceptable level, so no further testing is required (75 to 80 % of properties we test fall into this category)
Disadvantages:
- As the samples are field composited into one test kit, if contamination is found we are unable to isolate which room holds the contamination.
PRICE:
Purpose is to sample every room in the property, including all bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, dinning, hallway, bathroom, en-suite, separate toilet, laundry, internal and external garage
- 1 Kit (1–5 rooms) = 1 bedroom home
- 2 Kits (6–10 rooms) = 2 to 3 bedroom home
- 3 Kits (11–15 rooms) = 4 bedroom home
- 4 Kits (16–20 rooms) = 5+ bedroom home
- Greater than 10 bedrooms – please give us a call to discuss
Results will be provided 48 hours after receipt by the laboratory.

Discrete Area by Area Sampling (AxA)
We recommend Discrete Area by Area Sampling analysis when:
Around 5% of the thousands of properties we test have meth residues greater than 1.5 micrograms but less than 3 micrograms. It is these properties when our area by area or area by area lab composite prove to be the best approach.
If the results of initial screening test exceed 3 micrograms then a Contaminated Site Inspection (CSI) is recommended. This includes discrete area by area individual samples with a detailed Remediation Action Plan to support an insurance claim and to assist professional decontamination specialists in the remediation.

Discrete Area by Area Sampling – Composited at the Lab (AxA LC)
In a Laboratory Composite multiple samples are taken within a property and sent to the laboratory individually for analysis. The laboratory will take an extraction from each test kit and combine them into a single analysis. The result is an average of all test kits, with a potential maximum amount (ie if the result were to be isolated in 1 sample area)
Advantages:
- One sample taken in every “high use” area in accordance with NZS8510:2017
- As the samples are all kept separate, if contamination is found they can be re-analysed individually to ascertain which sampling location holds the contamination.
Note: 2nd Stage laboratory processing of an individual sample is an additional fee of $99 + GST.
Disadvantages:
- As samples are taken and kept individually, the sample collection process takes longer and stricter cross-contamination practices must be enforced which increases the cost.
- If there is no reason to suspect meth contamination were to exceed the current acceptable levels, then this method of sampling is an expensive option.
- If meth were to be present and results identify levels were to exceed the current acceptable levels, it is likely that further samples would need to be taken in accordance to NZS8510 Standards based on the size of the rooms and material/surface types throughout the property.
PRICE:
Purpose is to take an individual sample from every room in the property, including all bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, dinning, hallway, bathroom, en-suite, separate toilet, laundry, internal and external garage.
- Area by Area LC – Minimum of 5 samples composited at the laboratory as 1 test (Stage 1) – $280.00 + GST
- Area by Area LC – Up to 10 samples composited at the laboratory as 1 test (Stage 1) – $350.00 + GST
- Area by Area LC – Up to 15 samples composited at the laboratory as 1 test (Stage 1) – $410.35 + GST

Your results and our covering report will be provided within 3 working days from the date the samples are taken.
If any individual samples require Stage 2 laboratory processing, an additional fee of $99 + GST per sample applies.
Note: The samples are held at the Laboratory for up to 20 working days before being destroyed.
